Development Update | Trading Competition Launch, Bugs, and Fixes

Welcome back, friends! What a week.

Stage 1 of the Trading Competition is underway, the charts are alive, and hundreds of traders are helping us battle-test Kyan in exactly the way we hoped for. So first, thank you. Whether you’re trading, experimenting, or just poking around the app, you’re helping shape Kyan’s future.

Here’s everything we’ve been building, fixing, and polishing behind the scenes.

The first stage of the Kyan Testnet Trading Competition officially kicked off and the response has been incredible. Thousands of trades are already flowing through the platform, giving us exactly the real-world activity we need to stress-test Kyan ahead of mainnet.

If you haven’t joined yet, it’s not too late: connect your wallet on alpha.kyan.blue and jump in. It’s never too late to climb the leaderboard.

If you tried to connect earlier this week and Kyan refused to cooperate, that wasn’t on you. On Tuesday, a global Cloudflare outage caused connectivity issues across many apps, and Kyan wasn’t spared. Many users were unable to connect their wallets, transfer funds, or execute trades.

The issue was fully resolved once Cloudflare restored functionality, and no user funds or data were affected.

Some users saw weird behavior with their test funds: balances not updating, transfers not appearing (or disappearing). We tracked it down, fixed it, and everything is stable again.

The competition traffic has been incredibly helpful and it’s allowed us to improve the exchange in meaningful ways:

We’re also pushing an update that will make opening and managing positions feel more intuitive across both perps and options.

For perps, the market-limit price field will now automatically pre-populate based on slippage. This removes the friction of manually adjusting prices when you want fast execution, and it ensures orders reflect realistic fill expectations right out of the gate.

For options, we’ll default to limit orders by design. Options markets can be more nuanced, with wider spreads and more complex pricing, so starting with a limit order gives you greater control and helps prevent unintentional fills at undesirable prices.

The competition, the bug reports, the feedback, the Discord chatter — it’s all incredibly valuable. You’re helping us push Kyan to a polished, ready-for-mainnet trading platform.
